AI isn’t just for techies; it’s a shift in eco-system that's fast becoming a creative companion for all sorts of makers and creators. Whether you’re crafting custom backgrounds, collage papers, or textures for handmade cards, AI tools can help you generate beautiful and unique digital paper designs that can be printed and used in card-making and crafting.

Generate paper designs using AI text prompts.

How to design gorgeous craft papers with AI

AI tools are opening exciting new creative doors for crafters and card-makers. With just a few words, you can generate unique patterned paper designs that match your design aesthetic. AI thrives on creative prompts, and the key is to push your ideas further and be super specific and eloquent in the way you describe things. For example, instead of typing “floral pattern”, try “hand painted floral design in vibrant pink and orange tones.”

Print the design onto card and paper, to create original and stylish stationery.

Tips for printing your digital paper designs

Save your design as an A4 PDF file (300 DPI), so that you can print it out onto A4 paper on your home printer, for small scale use. Inkjet printers tend to give richer colour blends, but it's a good idea to experiment with different card/paper weights and finished; 160-200gsm is a thin card, and matte or satin presentation paper will give you a crisper detail. Using a commercial printing company might work out more economical if you plan to scale production, as ink cartridges can be expensive. One very important thing to remember, is that if you plan to sell or share your designs, make sure you check the commercial usage rights of the AI tool you use.
